Tell us about your proposal?
Jared proposed the night before he was due to travel overseas for a 3 month training exercise with the Australian Army. We had dinner at our favourite restaurant, followed by a walk along the beach. We were overlooking the water when Jared asked me, proposing with not one ring, but two – a beautiful eternity ring that my dad had given my mum before he passed away, and another ring that had been designed as its match.
As a Destination wedding what would you recommend?
If you are having a destination wedding in the Whitsundays, make it a week-long event! We organized a range of activities before the wedding – a fishing charter boat, a morning hike to honey eater lookout, a pub crawl, and a ‘welcome’ dinner at the Anchor Bar. The actual day goes by so fast; looking back you will really appreciate the extra time you were able to spend with family and friends.
Most Memorable Moment?
The speeches. They were all incredibly heartwarming and hilarious – there were plenty of tears and laughter! We were also fortunate to have two beautiful poems created – one about our love story, and the other from my four best friends.
Do you have any tips for guest logistics?
We created a wedding website using www.weddingwoo.com. It was a great resource as we were able to list a range of information – accommodation recommendations, our favourite cafes and restaurants, things to do and see in the Whitsundays, and a detailed schedule of our wedding week activities!
Where did you honeymoon!?
We had a week long ‘mini-moon’ on Hamilton Island, and are planning an overseas trip mid-year.
