Experience the Whitsunday magic of Whitehaven Beach

11 January 2017

For those who have not experienced the magic of Whitehaven Beach, then it is one Whitsunday experience which most certainly cannot be missed. If you are looking at an adventure for the day before or after your wedding, just to spend some quality time with family and friends or as part of a larger corporate gathering, then Whitehaven beach is the place to be.

Whitehaven Beach is located on the eastern side of Whitsunday island and spans approximately 7kms from end to end. At the northern end of the beach you will find the stunning Hill Inlet, which is best recognized from all those Whitsunday images of soft swirling sands and stunning views from the Tongue Bay look out back down Whitehaven Beach. The other end is the southern end of Whitehaven better known for its’ camp ground, walking track access and some great fringing coral reef, definitely worth a snorkel.

The sand on Whitehaven beach is unique in the sense it is made of 98% pure silica, and the 7km stretch of white silica sands and pristine waters is as yet untouched by development. Voted ‘Best beach in Australia’ by the 2016 TripAdvisors Traveler Choice Awards, it is easy to understand why this stunning stretch of sand is a firm favourite with visitors to our region.

There are countless ways to get out to Whitehaven beach and experience its beauty, from fast catamaran to sailing trips, from seaplane to helicopter, from private boat to bareboat charter, all of which have their benefits. We recommend you set some time aside on your Whitsunday holiday, bury your toes in the sands, swim in the crystal-clear waters, polish your jewelry in the 98% silica grains, relax under a tree and take a heap of photos.

Remember: take only memories and leave only footprints ….
