About the Whitsundays

The Whitsundays provides an authentic tropical destination experience, nestled on the east coast of Australia. Located in the tropics, the weather is the first thing that springs to mind when you envisage the Whitsunday region – long sunny days, balmy evenings with a warm northerly seabreeze lapping on the shore. The standard dress code for the Whitsundays is light summer dresses, strappy sandals, shorts and a straw hat, so whether you are visiting for a holiday, a wedding or a conference leave your winter clothes behind and be prepared to experience the tropical way of life.

Airlie Beach is the mainland tourist hub for the Whitsundays and the gateway to the 74 Whitsunday islands. Providing access to the island resorts, the Great Barrier Reef and the tropical rainforest of the hinterland, Airlie Beach itself is a thriving and vibrant little town with plenty to keep you busy.

Relax Whitsundays

From relaxation to adrenaline fueled activities, the Whitsunday region provides it all. Take some time out of your busy life to relax at a day spa and get pampered. We have some incredible spas in Airlie Beach that offer a range of bespoke services and that will ensure you leave feeling divine. Stroll the marina precinct and the main street whilst shopping at a range of boutique and specialist shops providing unique and hand crafted items. Every Saturday at the Airlie Beach foreshore the Whitsunday markets are another great place to seek out a hidden gem or relax with a coffee under a palm tree and listen to the sounds of music floating through the tropical air.

Explore Whitsundays

Explore the Whitsunday Coast, with a day visit to Hideaway Bay or Dingo Beach as these quiet seaside hamlets are popular with tourist and locals alike. Both locations are the perfect place for a light lunch, a stroll on the beach, a swim in our warm tropical waters or to simply relax under a palm tree and breathe in the beauty of nature. Further afield, approximately a 1.5hr drive from Airlie Beach we have Eungella & Cape Hillsborough National Parks. Arrive at Cape Hillsborough first thing in the morning and watch the resident wallabies relax on the beach at sunrise, drive out to Finch Hatton Gorge and swim in the fresh mountain waterfalls or go platypus spotting at Broken River.

If food and dining are your passion experience everything the Whitsundays has to offer. From a delicious seafood platter enjoyed on the balcony of your waterfront accommodation, a relaxing tapas style long lunch or a civilized dinner under the stars, Airlie Beach has some spectacular restaurants and bistros.
