The Whitsunday Writers Festival will once again take place at Lure, Abell Point Marina. The weekend will run from the 16 – 18 June 2017 and will promise to deliver a weekend of literary gems including author’s talks/ presentations, writing workshops, a welcome function and fabulous gala dinner on the Saturday evening. With all this the festival provides like-minded creative and literary people with a chance to discuss ideas and their creative experiences to inspire others.
In recent years, the Whitsunday Writers Festival has attracted great names such as Peter Fitzsimons, Jessica Watson, Annie Seaton and Ben Southall. This year, the first author to be confirmed is Rob Mundle who is often referred to as ‘the voice of sailing’ in Australia. He is an internationally recognised author, a competitive sailor, television and newspaper commentator/journalist and a community leader. Rob has recently released his 16th book Under Full Sail – the story of the mighty and majestic clipper ships and the role they played in transforming Australia from a convict outpost to a nation. Rob’s five previous maritime history books all achieved bestseller status, and Under Full Sail looks set to join them.
Aside from an author’s talk Saturday afternoon, 17th June, Rob will also MC the gala dinner Saturday. Everyone in sailing knows Rob Mundle and you can say hello to Rob at the welcome function on Friday 16th June at Lure.
